Sea Saw

Sink or Sync ? — Find your balance, and you’ll sea success.

Sea Saw is an interactive, balance-based installation that challenges participants to work together to control a shared on-screen surfer gliding across a virtual ocean to collect coins within a limited time.
Sea Saw encourages balance, real-time response, and synchronized collaboration. Each participant stands on one of two surfboard-like balance boards, with their shifting weight continuously tracked and translated into directional input for the boat. The surfer’s movement depends on the combined balance and coordination of the two players—when they are in sync, the surfer glides smoothly across the water at a steady pace, allowing them to collect the coins efficiently. A lack of coordination causes the surfer to slow down, rotate, or eventually stop. The presence of a countdown timer, introduces urgency and encourages players to quickly develop a rhythm together.
Sea Saw emphasizes non-verbal communication, requiring participants to intuitively align their movements and respond to each other in real time. As they progress, the importance of trust, patience, and mutual awareness becomes clear, turning balance into a shared language of collaboration.
We envision a future of work where physical presence, shared awareness, and playful engagement are key to building strong team dynamics.
By combining balance, coordination, and time-based challenges, through Sea Saw, we aim to provide a playful and engaging exploration of teamwork, problem-solving, and the subtle dynamics of working together.
