This event is the capstone course for Bachelor of Information Technology : User Experience Design and Master Interaction Design students. Students have designed and developed speculative experiences exploring the theme "The Future Mundane: novel interactions for near-future technologies."

Art Through Heart

Art Through Heart is a conversation aid that reflects the emotions and heartbeats of the speakers through light and colour. Inspired by the tradition of conversations around a campfire, Art Through Heart aims to help people better understand and form deeper connections with loved ones.

Branched Out!

The ball has dropped and a new decade has begun. What will playgrounds look like if concrete jungles continue to expand? Will the act of climbing a tree become an extinct pastime? Branched-Out aims to put nature-inspired play back at the forefront of traditional play, instead of pushing it to the edge. Essentially, the concept is an interactive, climbable and nature-inspired playscape targeting children aged between 3 and 8 years. Branched-Out engages the children as it responds to movement up the structure and with every interaction a unique experience is created.

Echo Flower

Flowers allow users to compose music together even when they are not in the same place. Users hear the music not only created by themselves but by other connected flowers. They create sound by bending the petals, changing instruments by sticking on leaves, and changing pitch through hand gestures.

Our intended concept is to design a piano for children aged 4-6 to learn musical notation and be accompanied/ encouraged/taught by children’s favorite characters in the 3D holographic projection.

Jog Dealer

Jog Dealer is an interactive jacket that aims to make running more enjoyable and motivating safely. The lighting system on the vest will allow runners and surrounding pedestrians to see the runners' current running data interactively.

The Mandragora Plant

The Mandragora plant is a set of artificial flowers located in a common area of a house. Those flowers represent each family member living in the same household and are aimed to help families enhance their emotional communication skills, ultimately resulting in stronger family relationships.

MoodBall is an emotion detection ball that allows users to detect and share feelings through music and lights. It aims to create immersive music modulating experience for joy and relaxation as well as to provide mental support through sharing and engaging with remote users.

An interactive educational soft toy called Mr. Mood with a storyline built around the interactions. This educational tool is to help preschoolers learn how to identify and manage their emotions.

My Treasured Stories

Our concept is a digitally projected story from a wooden treasure chest, that is aimed at replacing typical storybooks with more interaction and playfulness by incorporating the child's own toys into the storyline characters and their imagination.

Secret Garden

The Secret Garden is an interactive installation that enables residents nurture virtual flowers collaboratively. People can share their stories by leaving voice messages on the flowers. It aims to promote social connection among apartment residents.

Silent Synchronicity

An interactive silent disco that encourages social interaction and lets people create a unique music experience through dance and movements within a club setting. The user's selected music channel, location on the dance floor, proximity to other dancers and speed of hand movements are each mapped to music variables to create a personalised experience.

Talk to the Book

Talk to the Book is an interactive storybook and at home speech pathology tool. It is designed for children ages 5-7 years, that are in need of improving their pronunciation of specific words. The book is prescribed by the child’s speech pathologist to practise at home with a parent. Through a series of exciting stories all with different pronunciation focus, the child will be helped to improve their pronunciation while having fun! By completing a set of tasks, done by placing the characters on the right spot, and pronouncing particular sentences correct, the child unlocks a new world of surprises, fun and learning!
